Less of a risk of infection and faster healing

Our General Surgeons are at the forefront of laparoscopic and minimally invasive operations. As an example, the national average for laparoscopic verses open colon surgery is close to 55%, with rural hospitals averaging even lower. At Exeter Hospital, more than 80% of our colon operations are done laparoscopically, which means we can use less anesthesia, and there is less of a risk of infection and faster healing. Surgeries that we do laparoscopically or with minimally invasive techniques include:

  • Laparoscopic adrenalectomy
  • Laparoscopic anti-reflux surgery
  • Laparoscopic hiatal hernia and paraesophageal repair
  • Complex laparoscopic ventral hernia repair
  • Single incision laparoscopic surgery
  • Laparoscopic surgery for colon cancer
  • Minimally invasive thoracic (lung) surgery
