About Dr. Rattani

Dr. Abbas Rattani is a board-certified radiation oncologist and the Medical Director of Radiation Oncology at the Falzone Center for Cancer Care at Exeter Hospital. He is affiliated with Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he collaborates on advancing cancer care and treatment innovation across the region. Dr. Rattani is deeply committed to providing personalized, compassionate care to individuals with cancer.

Dr. Rattani takes a patient-centered approach that emphasizes safety, effectiveness, and teamwork. He works closely with a multidisciplinary care team to create treatment plans that best meet each patient’s needs.

He specializes in advanced radiation therapies, including image-guided radiation therapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, intensity-modulated radiotherapy, volumetric modulated arc therapy, and stereotactic body/ablative radiation therapy. His expertise allows him to design highly targeted treatments that improve precision, reduce side effects, and support recovery.

Dr. Rattani completed his residency in Radiation Oncology through the combined Tufts Medical Center/Brown University program in Boston, MA, and Providence, RI. He also completed a General Surgery internship at Rush University–John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, IL. During residency, he served as an Affiliated Scholar at the Institute for Bioethics, Health Policy, and Law at the University of Louisville.

He earned his medical degree from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and holds a master’s degree in Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania. His early research included fellowships with Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and Harvard Medical School’s Program for Global Surgery and Social Change.

Dr. Rattani has received multiple honors, including the Radiological Society of North America’s Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award (2022, 2024) for his contributions to radiation oncology research. He has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications and presented internationally on clinical care and medical decision-making.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Rattani has served with the White House Presidential Commission for the Study of Bioethical Issues, the U.S Department of Veterans Affairs National Center for Ethics in Health Care, and the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics.
