Comprehensive Surgical Care, Close To Home
At Core Physicians, our board-certified general surgeons provide expert care for a wide range of conditions. We combine surgical skill with the latest techniques to deliver safe, effective procedures and support faster recovery. Whenever possible, we use minimally invasive approaches — resulting in smaller incisions, less pain, and a quicker return to normal activities.
Procedures We Offer
Our team performs procedures across many areas of the body, including the breast, abdomen, thyroid, skin, lungs, colon, rectum, arms and legs. From routine procedures to complex operations, we are skilled in both traditional open surgery and advanced techniques.
Whether you require urgent care, planned surgery or ongoing surgical management, you can count on our team for compassionate, coordinated, and expert treatment.
Minimally Invasive & Advanced Techniques
Many procedures at Core Physicians use minimally invasive approaches to reduce pain, risk and recovery time. These include:
- Laparoscopic surgery – small incisions, quicker healing, less anesthesia (e.g. anti-reflux surgery, ventral hernia repair, colon operations)
- Single-Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS) – doing certain abdominal operations through a single incision at the navel for less visible scarring and faster recovery
Advanced Imaging Support
To improve accuracy, many of our procedures are supported by real-time ultrasound guidance. This technology allows precise evaluation and targeted biopsies for breast, vascular, thyroid, and lymph node conditions.
Why Choose Core Physicians for Your Surgery
- A team of surgeons skilled in open, laparoscopic, robotic and single-incision techniques
- A high percentage of colon operations performed laparoscopically (exceeding regional averages)
- Use of advanced technologies and techniques (robotic visualization, single incision methods) to reduce recovery times and improve cosmetic outcomes
- Close coordination with the rest of your care team — from diagnosis to follow-up — to ensure seamless treatment
Common Procedures
Gallbladder Removal (Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy)
Gallbladder surgery is one of the most common procedures in the U.S. Using a laparoscopic approach, we can safely remove the gallbladder through small incisions, minimizing pain and recovery time
Laparoscopic Nissen Fundoplication
For patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) that does not respond to medication, this minimally invasive procedure tightens the valve between the esophagus and stomach. It often eliminates the need for lifelong acid-reducing medication.
Hernia Repair
Ventral Hernia: Repaired laparoscopically using durable mesh for lasting results and reduced pain.
Inguinal Hernia: Performed laparoscopically or through open surgery, depending on the case, with mesh reinforcement to prevent recurrence.
Hemorrhoid Treatment
While many hemorrhoids are managed with lifestyle changes or office-based procedures, surgical options are available for advanced cases. Core Physicians offers the Procedure for Prolapse and Hemorrhoids (PPH), which reduces pain and speeds recovery compared to traditional surgery. Rubber band ligation and other operative techniques may also be recommended based on your condition
Colon Surgery
For non-cancerous conditions, minimally invasive colon resection may be performed using laparoscopic or hand-assisted techniques. These approaches typically result in less pain, faster recovery and shorter hospital stays compared to traditional open surgery.
Colon Cancer Surgery
When colon cancer is detected, surgical removal of the tumor may be recommended. Our surgeons work closely with oncology specialists to ensure a comprehensive treatment plan.
A core breast biopsy helps doctors accurately diagnose breast abnormalities in less than an hour. Performed in the office with local anesthesia, it requires only a tiny incision, no stitches, and minimal downtime. Using ultrasound guidance, this procedure provides precise results while avoiding the scarring and discomfort often associated with open surgical biopsies.
Open Breast Biopsy / Lumpectomy
For certain breast lumps or abnormalities seen on imaging, an open biopsy or lumpectomy may be recommended. This procedure can be done with local anesthesia and sedation or under general anesthesia, depending on your needs.
Our surgeons perform partial or total thyroid removals for thyroid cancer or suspicious nodules. These procedures are tailored to ensure both effective treatment and long-term health.
We perform surgery for both cancerous and noncancerous lung conditions. When appropriate, minimally invasive thoracoscopy allows treatment with smaller incisions, less pain and quicker recovery.
For lung cancer diagnosis and treatment, we provide specialized thoracic surgeries and diagnostic procedures, working with our pulmonary and critical care team. These include:
- Endobronchial Ultrasound (EBUS) to evaluate the airways and nearby organs
- Electromagnetic Navigational Bronchoscopy (ENB) to reach lung nodules that are hard to access by standard methods
- Video-Assisted Thoracic Surgery (VATS) for minimally invasive lung procedures
- Mediastinoscopy, used to examine or sample lymph nodes in the chest area for staging or diagnosis
VNUS Closure
For patients with varicose veins caused by venous reflux, the VNUS Closure procedure offers a minimally invasive alternative to traditional vein stripping. Using radiofrequency energy, the affected vein is closed off, rerouting blood flow to healthier veins. Most patients experience minimal discomfort, fast recovery and excellent cosmetic results.
Ambulatory Phlebectomy
Some veins that don’t respond to other treatments can be removed through tiny incisions in the skin. This outpatient procedure is quick, safe and effective.
Sclerotherapy (Traditional & Ultrasound-Guided)
Sclerotherapy involves injecting a solution into affected veins, causing them to collapse and fade over time. Ultrasound guidance allows our surgeons to treat deeper veins that are contributing to varicose veins or spider veins.
